WE’RE HERE TO HELP
Trent Hughes
PhD, LPC-MHSP
For over 15 years, Trent Hughes has been dedicated to helping individuals navigate addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges. He holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and a PhD in Clinical Counseling with a focus on Teaching and Supervision from Trevecca.
Trent’s approach to therapy is grounded in a deep curiosity about human behavior. “I’ve always been drawn to psychology,” he says. “I’ve spent years trying to understand what drives us—why we make certain choices, how we form relationships, and what leads to mental distress.” For Trent, the question isn’t just why we make decisions, but how we make them—because how we approach life’s challenges is what ultimately leads to lasting change.
Trent believes that focusing on wellness is key to creating meaningful transformation. Rather than simply addressing pathology, his work centers on identifying clients’ internal strengths and external resources to promote health and growth. He integrates clinical hypnosis, Buddhist psychology, and evidence-based strategies into his work, creating a holistic approach to healing.
Trent works with clients in Tennessee, both in-person and online, and has been recognized for his work in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). He is passionate about helping individuals achieve balance and rediscover their best selves. He is also trained in EMDR I & II.
When not working, Trent enjoys running, hiking, and spending time outdoors, as well as enjoying quality moments with his three children.
